Tech golfers finish No. 10

HENDERSON, Nev. — Louisiana Tech University had a three-day total of 305-310-318-933 to finish No. 10 in the 2013 Western Athletic Conference golf tournament that concluded at the Rio Secco course on Wednesday.
The Bulldogs placed freshman Victor Lange and junior Travis Wilmore on the All-WAC squad that was announced in conjunction with the tournament.
Lange ended the tourney with a 70-77-76-223 and tied for No. 5, while Wilmore registered a score chart of 79-769-76-234 to deadlock for No. 33.

Hope for Autism: 5K run/walk sets record for parish park

Teams, individuals and activist clamored to Lincoln Parish Park setting a record in attendance to raise awareness and funds for Autism on April 27 during the first ever Hope for Autism 5k Run.
“There were 440 individuals who participated and more than 500 attended,” Tiffany White, founder of the Hope Center for Autism, said. “According to the Lincoln Parish Park, it was a record breaking event. Previously the largest race had about 200 participants.”

Tour set to start Saturday at Ruston Junior High

Cyclists wanting to get out and hit the streets of Lincoln Parish will get their chance Saturday as the third edition of the Tour of Piney Hills is held.
The completely changed event has a new partnership of organizers and promoters, a new venue for staging the tour and new routes, with additional options for the cyclists. All riders who participate and complete the route of their choice will receive commemorative awards as well as food and refreshments at the finish, to make up for calories burned off during the ride.

Trivia contest set for May 9

Chasing after $500 is no trivial pursuit.
But that’s the opportunity area residents will get May 9 as the Emerson Centre holds its Spring 2013 Trivia Night at the Argent Pavilion in the Joe Aillet Stadium parking lot.
Registration will be held on-site beginning at 6 p.m. with the contest slated to start at 6:30 p.m.
First-place winners will pocket $500, second-place finishers $200 and third-place finalists will receive paid entry for the 2013 Fall Trivia Night.
