On March 24, 2013, Arbin Geraldine Cottingham, 79, ended her earthy journey. Geraldine was born on January 20, 1934 in Arcadia, Louisiana to the late Malcolm Baker, Sr. and Verline Rushing. She was preceded in death by her brother, Malcolm Baker, Jr.(Melba Doris).

Geraldine graduated from Arcadia High School. She later moved to Jonesboro, Louisiana and wed Felton Cottonham in 1954. Unto this union, six children were born-Cass Cottingham(Loice), Bernadine Player(Michael-deceased), Ronald Cottonham-deceased(Diana), Shirley Davis, Angela Tademy(Richard), and Lisa Livingston(Roderick).

For the past several weeks, Hillcrest Elementary School second grader Chelsea Kelly has spent some time on Wednesday afternoons reading with retired librarian Marsha Armond and retired teacher Ellen Breed.
“I like to read,” Chelsea says, holding up a book called “Young Billy Goat,” which she said has been her favorite so far.
When asked why, she answered that the authors David and Pat Sargent had come to the school to speak.

Coroner: Bruises on adopted child

DALLAS (AP) — Russian officials expressed disbelief recently with an American grand jury’s decision not to charge a Texas couple in the death of their 3-year-old adopted son from Russia after a prosecutor concluded his fatal injuries were accidental.
The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed to a continuing “general line of leniency” that they say American authorities give to adoptive parents. The ministry’s statement came hours after Ector County District Attorney Bobby Bland said no charges were brought against Alan and Laura Shatto, the parents of 3-year-old Max Shatto.
