Littera Club

The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer was the setting for the Feb. 6 meeting of The Littera Club. The hostesses Alice Herrmann, Faye Davis and Wanda Moseley used a Mardi Gras theme for the table decorations and a Valentine’s theme for the refreshments. Members enjoyed a time of fellowship during refreshments.
After calling the meeting to order, thanking the hostesses and welcoming the members, President Emily Baugh asked Erma Hudson to lead the Club Collect and Joan Gordon to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Our speaker, Sheriff Mike Stone, was introduced by Kathey Roane.

RHS, Ouachita boys to decide No. 1 slot

in

First place is on the line for Ruston High and Monroe Ouachita High in a battle of Top 10 state ranked Class 5A boys’ basketball teams tonight.
The Bearcats and Lions will meet at approximately 7:30 p.m. at the RHS gymnasium following a 6 p.m. girls’ game between the two schools to determine who settles the top spot in the District 2-5A standings.
A win by Ruston would result in a tie for first place and force a tiebreaker game. If the Lions (26-4, 7-0) prevail, they wind up with outright possession of No. 1 in the league.

Enjoy a sweet treat, help a child in need

When someone is diagnosed with cancer, the news is heartbreaking. However, when a child is diagnosed with cancer, the news is devastating. For an adult to brave that fight is one thing, but for a child to face the possibility of death is something words cannot describe.

Gender stereotyping still OK?

in
Sharp, Lacey.jpg

Is gender stereotyping the last form of acceptable prejudice?
For all those rolling their eyes at this point, you may stop. I am by no means going on a male bashing/woman sympathizing rant.
However, with the new policy that is presumably going to allow women in combat roles, a heated debate has dominated the news, and has even brought in a few ‘Letters to Editor” here at the Ruston Daily Leader.
