A crash downtown: Cyclist hit during lunch hour

A person on a bicycle was hit by a vehicle near the intersection of Monroe Street and West Alabama around noon on Wednesday. The individual who was struck appeared in stable condition as he waited for paramedics to arrive. No further details we available at press time.

Repairing a landmark

Police jurors begin path to fixing federal building

The Lincoln Parish Police Jury started the process to make repairs to the Federal Building roof during its monthly meeting last week.
Jurors on the Public Property and Building Committee moved to authorize advertisement for bids to repair leaks to the roof of the Federal Building, located at 201 S. Vienna St. in Ruston.
The City of Ruston website says the solid, rectangular structure, completed in 1909, was the first one to be built in Ruston with Indiana limestone and today is one of only two buildings made of limestone in the city.

Dinner, music and a show set for Friday night at GSU

For the fifth year, the community is invited to help raise money for a scholarship fund with an evening full of music and theatrics as the Grambling State University President’s Annual Dinner Theatre will commence Friday evening.

Club News- Cosmos Club

The April meeting of the Cosmos Club was held in the home of Faye Hollingsworth with 14 members present. Jeanne Lynch assisted the hostess in serving refreshments. Due to the compliments received on her pound cake, which was served with strawberries Lynch provided copies of the recipe to the Club members.

Student to represent North La. in state literary rally

Rachel Hegab was the district winner in the North Louisiana Literary Rally held at Louisiana Tech University on March 23. Rachel competed in the Spanish I competition.
The Spanish competition asks objective questions that test the student’s abilities in structural analysis and reading comprehension.
In structural analysis, the student is tested on the different grammatical structures involving parts of speech, idiomatic expressions, etc.
