A traffic accident that occurred around noon Thursday left traffic lanes on South Monroe Street congested as officers as one lane was closed due to two-car collision.
According to reports, 19-year-old Kayla Lance, of Dodson, failed to obey the traffic sign while traveling east on Louisiana Avenue in a 2003 Ford pick-up truck, and struck a 2005 Chrysler Sebring driven by Justina Rice, of Minden.

Help alliance stop drunk driving

Just three days after Ruston High School juniors and seniors watched a mock highway crash unfold before them, six Ohio teenagers died when their speeding SUV crashed into a guardrail and flipped over into a pond.
The RHS mock crash, and a subsequent one to be held next week at Cedar Creek School, was staged primarily to represent the danger of drinking and driving, and it reiterates the importance of using seat belts. The simulations also underscore the overall responsibility of being behind the wheel.

Carter, Bill.jpg

Besides reading, writing and arithmetic, I learned as much or more sitting on their back porch, as in the classroom. There were always teachers and instructors present.
Pop had a collection of friends who were the smartest men I knew. They were my idols!
