RPAR collecting gifts for children’s home

The holiday season is upon us and, as in past years, the Ruston Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a charitable campaign drive to help others with the help of the Ruston community.

Techsters to host McNeese

Teresa Weatherspoon and her Louisiana Tech University women’s basketball team are more than happy about being back home tonight.
The Lady Techsters have had some rough going on the road, being outscored by a combined 155-72 against Texas A&M (77-26) in College Station and Rutgers (73-46) in New York.

Allen, Patton selected as AP All-Americans

Louisiana Tech punter Ryan Allen and wide receiver Quinton Patton were named 2012 All-Americans Tuesday by the Associated Press.
Allen was named to the first team while Patton received second team honors.

A lot of people are challenged when it comes to communicating information and opinions to others. Some individuals have trouble speaking in front of a crowd, as they are self-conscious about being the center of attention. Others discover it is difficult for them to communicate effectively in writing.

Miss Clara Harmolean “Diddle” Rowe was one of the finest individuals I have ever known. She lived in Ruston all of her life, never married, was a life-long member of Temple Baptist Church and was the City of Ruston’s treasurer for many years.
Until the day she died in 1995, Diddle was a Yellow Dog Democrat. Wikipedia defines that as being someone from the Southern United States who votes solely for Democratic candidates.

Margaret Iwilla Bossier Hamilton

Memorial services for Margaret Iwilla Bossier Hamilton, 96, of Ruston, formerly of Downsville, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Temple Baptist Church, Ruston, LA. Officiating will be the Revs. Dale Oden and Bill Easterling. Private interment will be held prior to the service in the Downsville Cemetery, Downsville, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Hamilton was born October 12, 1916 in Goldonna, LA and she died Monday, December 10, 2012 in Ruston, LA. Mrs. Hamilton, a native of Winnfield, was an elementary school teacher.
