Accepting age will make it easier on everyone

in
Irby, Marna.jpg

Guess what? 2012 is gone and we have a new year to fill a clean slate on which we can make a new record for ourselves. Hopefully, we have learned from our mistakes and at least will not repeat the old ones. Being human, we’ll probably make some new ones. As old as I am, you’d think I would have a better handle on this, but as I used to tell my piano pupils, imperfect practice does not produce beautiful music. A collision on Louisiana Highway 33, just south of the North Louisiana Expo Center in northern Lincoln Parish, caused area law enforcement to close the highway for approximately a mile as the wreck was cleared.
Albert Paxton, public information trooper with the Louisiana State Police Troop F, said the wreck occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. today and was the result of a driver falling asleep behind the wheel.
“An 18-wheeler was heading northbound, when a 2004 Chevy Silverado crossed the center line and struck the oncoming vehicle,” Paxton said.

Remaining open, partial service in village options

Two Ruston natives to perform at the Dixie

010413 Art Talk BW.jpg

When I first got word that Grant Terry was planning a Ruston concert at the Dixie Center for the Performing Arts in 2013, I immediately recalled the time I saw the young artist playing on a summer day in Railroad Park. North Central Louisiana Arts Council presented free concerts in the park with an array of young talent from around the region. Terry was one of those who really stood out while he performed his songs as only a writer can.
