Holiday gifts being sold to benefit the Dixie

In an effort to raise funds and support the arts, The Dixie Center for the Performing Arts is currently selling gift items during this holiday season.
Jeff Robinson and the elves at Rustiques Architectural Antiques have created a holiday gift of an unusual wine caddy for the fundraiser. These are made of vintage woods salvaged from old buildings in the South, some more rustic than others. The price of a wine caddie is $20.

Planned busy week interrupted by hospital stay

I need to tell you about the wonderful week planned for last week and how it went awry — bear with me.
Erma Hudson and I arrived in Ruston on Monday to make my haircut appointment at Marion Duggan’s. She doesn’t work on Mondays, but did that for me. I’d been past due for a couple of weeks, but no one has ever pleased me in Dallas like she does.

GSU holds ROTC commissioning ceremony

The Grambling State University Army ROTC Tiger Battalion Fall 2012 Commissioning Ceremony was held at 10 a.m. Dec. 13 in the Black and Gold Room in the Favrot Student Union.
The guest speaker was Major General Everett H. Thomas, vice commander of Air Force Global Strike Command at the U.S. Air Force's Barksdale Air Force Base. He is a graduate of Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, Miss.
The new second lieutenants are Quention D. Jackson, Brittany J. Longino, Sha'Darrian D. Marshall, Doreen N. Wallace, Anthony K. Whaley and Courtney D. Wicks.
