Imagining the first Easter

Bleich, Joe C.jpg

Lost and found. That small phrase conjures up ideas of losing a wallet, purse, or in this time a cell phone; panic setting in; then going to an office to find the lost. Stay smart when making plans for a windfall

in
Moore, Byron.jpg

Question: I owe about $20,000 on two debts. The only other debt is my house note. I just got about twice that much in a settlement. Should I save all of it or pay off the two debts I have? The interest on both accounts is only 5.9 percent. My husband wants to pay both off, but I don’t think we should. Thanks for your help.

Make sure your IRA plays by the rules

in
Conville, Bobby.jpg

For years, taxpayers who made mistakes with their IRAs usually corrected the errors and notified the IRS — and escaped unscathed. The agency was not as strict with enforcing penalties, and taxpayers often didn’t even hear from regulators.

Bearcats’ pitcher helps highlight weekend wins
9-1.jpg

David Michael Burkhalter helped Rayville High uncover some “eggs” on Easter weekend.
It just wasn’t the type that the Hornets had envisioned.
These were “goose eggs,” courtesy of a no-hitter hurled by the Ruston High School senior in a 6-0 victory at Rayville High’s diamond on Friday night.
Burkhalter, who has verbally committed to play at Tulane University, was near perfect, just as he had been back during his Ruston Dixie Baseball Association playing career.
