Book character parade, science fair focus in December

Second-grade news
Those of us in second grade at CES are waiting anxiously for Christmas to get here. We have been making Christmas ornaments and Christmas presents for our parents. We have also written letters to Santa. Our music teacher Mrs. Roberts has taught us some new Christmas songs that we performed for our parents this past Tuesday.

Louisiana Tech University’s search for a new head coach in football may be taking yet another different turn.
Enter: Houston Nutt, Jr., and Skip Holtz.
Two well-known names in college coaching, both of whom are currently off of the sidelines, are reportedly among the latest candidates to succeed Sonny Dykes as the leader of the Bulldogs.

The Louisiana Department of Education is holding up Lincoln Parish’s freshly approved teacher compensation plan as an example of an exemplary plan for the rest of the state to follow.
Lincoln Parish Schools Superintendent Danny Bell explained that the state believed Lincoln Parish’s plan was the best plan they had seen so far.

Motorcyclists raise $3K for Toys for Tots

Residents out and about on Saturday morning may have noticed a larger number of motorcyclists riding through the parish than normal.
More than 150 motorcyclists joined the 2012 Toy Run, an event put on by the local chapter of American Bikers Aimed Toward Education. Bikers gathered in the parking lot of Lowe’s in Ruston to take a ride through the parish, enjoy some food and spend time together.

Donations sought to feed 500 families

With the help of locals with big hearts, Chris Turner is hoping to see several hundred local families in need drive away with a nice holiday dinner to fill their tables this Christmas.
For the fifth year in a row, Super 1 Foods, in conjunction with the Rotary of Lincoln, Christian Community Action and the Ruston-Lincoln Community Foundation, is hoping to collect enough money to provide food for 500 local families, which could add up to more than 2,000 individuals.

Activities abound at the Lambright Sports and Wellness Center

The bowling alley is just one of the new additions following extensive renovations to the facility that wrapped up this year.
