The global warming scare

The new cover of Bloomberg Businessweek has a photo of a flooded New York City over a screaming headline, “It’s Global Warming, Stupid.”
The magazine thus joins the effort to make the devastation wrought by Hurricane Sandy into a piece of cheap agitprop. Global-warming alarmists are desperate for a threat from climate change more immediate and telegenic than the low-lying Maldives supposedly sinking one day beneath a rising sea.

What this election means

There is no point in spinning —- conservatives need to face honestly what this election means.
A first take: Gov. Mitt Romney tried to win while leaning on only one leg of the old Reagan coalition: jobs, jobs, jobs, economy, economy, economy. Against a president with a poor record on the economy, he lost.

Researchers from La. Tech to speak at Air Force symposium

Simsboro aldermen meet

SIMSBORO — During a town hall meeting on Nov. 5, Mayor Willie Hendricks explained to the townspeople about a resolution.
The resolution is to support a capital outlay request for $100,000, for 2013-14.
This project will provide more money for the sewer plants in Simsboro.

’Dogs meet Texas State, Tigers confront UAPB

Another “new” foe tries to derail Louisiana Tech University from its Top 20 national rankings on Saturday.
This time, it’s Texas State University, which plays host to the Bulldogs in San Marcos in a Western Athletic Conference contest starting at 6 p.m.
It will mark the first-ever meeting of the two schools, just as it was last weekend when Tech was at home against the University of Texas-San Antonio.

Bibbs’ 501 win resume include victories over Syracuse, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Maryland, Wake Forest, Clemson, Texas A&M, New Mexico State, Texas Tech, Mississippi State, Xavier (Ohio), Rice, and Miami.

Tech roller hockey begins action

The Louisiana Tech University roller hockey squad has gotten its 2012-13 season under way and is currently 0-4 in Division Two of the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association. The team’s roster consists of sophomore Aaronn Abbott of Lake Charles, freshman D.J. Fordis of Queens Creek, Ariz., sophomore Greg Hawkins of West Monroe, senior Kris Herrman of Toms River, N.J., senior Cole Luse of Monroe, junior Morgan McGough of Monroe, sophomore Nate Tichenor of Shreveport and junior Bailey Williams of Shreveport. Coaches include Gary Baker and Michael Hinton, both Tech graduates. Tichenor has 12 goals and three assists, Luke five goals an assist and Fordis four assists. Herman is the top defender.
