NCLAC members seeks Ruston photos

Today’s Art Talk is from NCLAC member and local artist Kate Sartor Hilburn. She and Patricia Tait Jones are collaborating on a wonderful opportunity to showcase Lincoln Parish through photography. This art exhibition is open for anyone to submit—not just professional photographers—and we hope many of you enter. There are cash awards. The exhibition will be shown at Bank of Ruston for their annual Holiday Art Show.

Club hosts speaker

David Abernathy with Rolling Hills Ministry recently spoke at the Tuesday noon meeting of the Ruston Lions Club. He spoke of the growth and expansion of disaster relief as well as current and future expansion of thrift store operations.

NAMI is here to help those in need

The Ruston chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness will host a “Healthy Mind and Body” mini-conference beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Lincoln Parish Library Lincoln Community Room.
The conference will focus on giving the community information about how to get and maintain a healthy body and mind, Jerrilene Washington, NAMI Ruston chapter president, said.
If the conference is a success, she said, the NAMI staff hope to make it an annual event.

Proud to call Louisiana home

Southeast Louisiana is devastated. Thousands of homes are gone, and 13 people are dead due to the historic flooding.
Homes have been literally washed way. People have been left with the clothes on their back and maybe whatever they could fit in a small bag right before they were rescued from their rooftops.
There have been several stories in our paper in the last week about local residents gathering supplies and making their way into flooded areas to help those displaced from the storm.
