Techsters trip Fresno 70-61

Louisiana Tech University took care of that situation at the Thomas Assembly Center night, racing past Fresno State 70-61 in front of a noisy and pumped up crowd of 4,102.
Not only did Fresno State (14-5, 6-1) suffer their first defeat within the league, but the Techsters (14-4, 6-1) also moved into the No. 1 position in the standings by virtue of the win.

Dunigan to be inducted into CFL Hall of Fame

One of the CFL’s all-time most successful and popular players while excelling at quarterback for six different franchises will be one of five new inductees into the Hall of Fame.
He’ll be joined by players Allen Pitts, Bobby Jurasin and Henry “Gizmo” Williams and administrator/official Victor Spencer.

Ruston offers wide variety

In big cities, there is a plethora of places to go, things to do and restaurants to sample.
Smaller places offer a slower pace, less crime and a glimpse of what our country was like in a simpler time.

Ruston offers most everything you could find in a big city. Its “plethora” of places includes:

Center stops crime early

Armed with the information that 82 percent of adults in the United States serving time in prisons are high school dropouts, Levy asked the state Legislature in 2002 to allow a Truancy Assessment Service Center in this area.
After more than three years in operation, the Center has received nearly 900 truancy referrals from schools in Union and Lincoln parishes.
The Center targets youngsters — those in grades K-5. A student is referred to the Center after five unexcused absences.

Battle lines drawn in Grambling

The Grambling University National Alumni Association announced its backing for the petition and its support for the town of Grambling’s petition calling for a state investigation into the administration and the way the ULS Board is handling matters on campus.
Earlier Thursday, the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System met in Baton Rouge and unanimously approved a resolution of support for Grambling’s president, Horace Judson.
