Little feet wear out big bodies

Alas for the ginger jar we bought during our military tour of duty in Okinawa. This fine piece of craftsmanship had managed to survive being packed by three sets of military packers and three overseas moves without so much as a crack. However, it could not stand up to Justin’s 180 pounds plodding across our hardwood floors. From behind me I heard a crash, then looked at Susan as she bit her bottom lip.
“Sorry, maw,” Justin said as he surveyed the damage.

Award is best tribute

Much of what they do for their community and its residents are never known outside of those they have helped. Yet that does not bother them; in fact they often prefer to work in anonymity, the actual work itself reward enough for them.
The Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, at the request of the Rotary Club, recently decided to name one of its annual awards in honor of such a person. Beginning in 2007, the Chamber’s Humanitarian Award will be known as the Bill Best Humanitarian Award and sponsored by Rotary, for which Best was former president and sergeant-at-arms.

CedarTown preps for holidays

“We have live entertainment, and we’re going be serving wine and heavy hors d’oeuvres,” Fuqua said. “We are going to just give the community a chance to come and preview the merchants. We think this year is going to be the best ever.”
CedarTown is an annual fund-raiser for Cedar Creek School.
The live entertainment will be provided by piano students from Cedar Creek School, and, Fuqua said, will allow for a Christmas atmosphere.
The advantage of attending the preview party, she said, will be shopping in a relaxed atmosphere.
