RHS teams sweep past Parkway

Thanks to savvy play, key buckets and critical rebounds by Louisiana-Monroe signee Sannisha Williams down the stretch, the Lady Bearcats came away with a tough 58-53 victory.
In a boys’ nightcapper, the Bearcats overcame early double digit deficits to eventually cost to a 70-45 decision.
Williams, a senior forward and first unit All-District 1-5A selection in 2005-2006, scored six of the Lady Bearcats’ final eight points, including a four-point play with just over 40 seconds remaining that all but assured head coach Ricky Durrett and his team with the verdict.

Party politics sends wrong message

When the Governor, who faces reelection next year, refused to yield, there were threats that as soon as the Legislature was called into session, there would be a nomination to adjourn. That, too, passed, leaving Louisiana residents — and the rest of the U.S. — to believe that something beneficial might actually be accomplished during the 10-day session.

Losses of war impact millions across country

This week it happened.
It was his picture that first caught my attention. Even before reading the words accompanying the photo, I knew I had seen the face before. But where? Then I read the name: Army Col. Thomas H. Felts Sr. It was Capt. Felts who I had worked for in the brigade S-3 shop in Augsburg, Germany, during my last tour of duty from 1990-1992.

Grambling magazine records tradition

“We have so much talent in this area. We have so much rich history. To that end, we want to document that,” the Grambling native said. “So many young people don’t understand what we went through; so many don’t understand what it is to be a Gramblinite.”
McIntyre said the chamber is looking forward to seeing more activity taking place in the town, similar to the construction boom the university is experiencing.
