Frustrating season finally ends

Unfortunately, on both accounts, a season-long trend continued for the Tigers and Bulldogs.
They lost.
Grambling ended up on the short end of a 21-14 finale against Alcorn State at Robinson Stadium.
Tech was pummeled by New Mexico State 50-23 in Las Cruces.

G-Men lose to Alcorn, 21-14

With the loss, the Tigers (3-8, 3-6 Southwestern Athletic Conference) suffered their most defeats in a single season since 1997, when the last GSU club directed by the legendary Eddie Robinson posted the same mark; in that year, too, Grambilng also lost to the ‘Corn 44-20.
“We fought hard, as we did throughout this season, but we just came up short again,” said head coach Melvin Spears. “It seems like every other game we had this year, it was pretty close. But even with this loss, I am proud of our players by the way they battled back affer being down 14-0. We came back and made it close.

Leadership key to Tech’s success

“It’s because the facility is that good, the research is that good and the people are that good,” Reneau said.
To be able to come up with a facility, compile research and bring in people who are “that good”, it takes strong leadership. Louisiana Tech is fortunate to have that leadership in Reneau.

Be careful when pointing the finger at others

But after his fit leaving the field, I wonder how many of the coaches — including the two standing right behind me who witnessed the young man’s tantrum — would still be willing to offer him a free ride to school.
That episode got me to thinking about something I had learned as a youngster in Sunday School. Our teacher told us that your life is the only Bible some people read. Expanding on that theme, she taught that you never know who’s watching you, so it’s important to watch what you do and say at all times.
