Marbury leads way

Louisiana Tech University honored such a person this week when it named Virginia Lomax Marbury its Alumna of Year for 2005.
Marbury’s ties to Ruston and Louisiana Tech run deep: her father, Dallas Daniel Lomax, was a distinguished professor at Tech, while her grandfather, George Madden Lomax, introduced legislation that established the school in 1894.
Over the course of her lifetime, the 1936 Tech graduate taught music to Ruston High School students before embarking on an insurance and banking career than has spanned more than 60 years.

“Several years ago Gov. Foster approved the formation of the 19 member Sparta Ground Water Commission. The commission has representatives from all across North Louisiana. Richard Durrett has been elected Chairman of the commission every year by a unanimous vote.

Prospects ready for NFL Combine

By the end of this week, they hope to be more than just another “blip.”
Former Ruston High star Williams, who starred as a pass rusher at LSU, and Grambling State products Eugene and Hatcher are among the participants in the by-invitation-only NFL Combine being held in Indianapolis this week.

FBI conducts raid at Citgo Food Mart

Ruston Police were used by the FBI to ensure perimeter security at the Citgo Food Mart located at Martin Luther King Drive and Farmerville Street, Ruston Police Public Information Officer Lt. Curtis Hawkins said.
“All I can say is the FBI is executing a search warrant here, and we were asked to provide security to keep unauthorized people from entering the scene,” Hawkins said.
An FBI Special Agent based in Monroe who was at the scene refused to identify himself or describe the nature of the search warrant.
