Road map to area’s future

Norris began by painting a picture of Ruston and Lincoln Parish from many aspects. He described the parish as having had no population growth in the past 15 years but as having continued to replace the migration out. In business, the moderate growth in recent years has increased the economic density. With basically stable employment, he said, still the unemployment rate has been rising over the past several years.

Make Monday a holiday not to be forgotten

The documentary was produced by Larry Cappetto. He is a filmmaker and military historian who has assembled a series of films compiled as “Lest They Be Forgotten” honoring the sacrifices made by World War II veterans. He is a resident of Grand Junction, Colo., and has made it his life’s mission to interview aging World War II veterans and document their personal stories.

My best reference retires

Even though the modest Durrett had asked for a very low key event without official speeches or proclamations, much to the pleasure of those present, he did not get his way.
I listened to all of the descriptions which suited him so perfectly — a man of character, a man of integrity, a man with a skill for meticulous and organized work. They were all perfect.

RHS duo, Aggies’ star named for LHSCA All-Star contest

The Aggies finished as runner-ups in that two-day affair, winning over Baton Rouge Runnels 7-3 in the semi-finals before losing to Forest 10-3 in the title contest.
Bradshaw will be one of the seven hurlers and Antley will serve as an assistant coach on the East team that will go up against the West in the 2006 Louisiana High School Coaches Association All-Star Game.
The first game is set for 7:30 tonight, then the second contest on Saturday at 12:15.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

“We wanted to expose kids to various careers and get their minds geared toward what they want to do,” RES School Facilitator Joe Pritchard said. “So many kids are geared toward video games or athletics. The reality is everybody’s not going to be a (professional) athlete or in the limelight. The children need to know there are other avenues they can travel and still be successful.”
Some students wrote down specific career questions while others practiced handshaking and eye contact with the visitors.
