Infants must have vaccine for daycare

“These are the types of bacteria that can cause ear infections and pneumonia,” Rea said.
“When children are at that age, they are always putting things in their mouths and spreading germs.”
Rea said for most children the requirement will not mean an additional shot.
“The PCV7 vaccine is part of the routine vaccination program starting when a child is two months old,” Rea said. “If they haven’t had the vaccination by the time they are 24 months old, they don’t need to get it.”

Ruston’s new road means great growth

Another additional benefit of the new street is the traffic it will pull from Farmerville Highway and Kentucky Avenue. Area residents who live on the north side of town can travel to Wal-Mart, Celebrity Theatre or Lowe’s by using this new back route while giving travelers from Interstate 20 and residents who live on the south side of I-20 an opportunity to use the North Service Road without congested traffic.

Tech research tool a real treat

The information I had already received about this project intrigued me, but the more she talked about the tutorial program, the more it fascinated me — and made me jealous of the incoming freshmen who will have access to this new research tool.
While at Tech, I attended two or three library instructional seminars only because it was a requirement of the classes I took. Though I knew the information would be necessary a few weeks later when I started my research paper, my mind would wander after about 10 minutes ... and not come back.

Summer heat for speeders halfway over

Ruston Chief Randal Hermes said officers with his department have issued 159 tickets during the first half of this campaign.
“We schedule these activities as an extra-duty detail when the officers are available,” Hermes said. “So, the hours and the locations are random.”
Of the 159 tickets issued, 104 were given to female drivers.
Hermes said the department also has access to a traffic counting device that is capable of keeping up with the number of vehicles that pass a particular spot as well as how fast the vehicle is traveling.
