Regents get grand tour of Tech, GSU

“Tech is at the forefront of both of those, and they are marrying the two. Louisiana Tech is one of the leading institutions in the nation in this emerging field.”
Roland Toups, committee chair of the Board of Regents, said he was impressed with Tech’s successes.
“I’m so glad the rest of the Regents have gotten a chance to meet (Tech President Dan Reneau) and his staff,” Toups said. “I think Tech has set standards we all can imitate.”
He also praised Savoie’s leadership.

RHS offense airing it out

For the entire state, the defending northeast Louisiana aerial yardage leader has moved up to No. 3 after having been No. 6 last week.
Alsup trails only the 1,065 yards totaled by Jordan Jefferson of Destrehan and 976 of Nick Boullosa of Covington, according to stats provided for the Associated Press.
Along with Ben’s notable numbers, the Bearcats also feature the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked receivers in northeast Louisiana.

Recycling rolls back around

We salute Trailblazer for spearheading the drive with community-wide recycling centers which include a variety of recyclable products.
Further credit should be given Trailblazer for the emphasis placed on recycling centers at schools.

We encourage area companies and organizations to support that idea for a number of reasons.

Time to get Ruston High tickets

Tables for six are available for $180 or $30 per seat. Seats are limited.
The fact that a lot of members of the Ruston High School Alumni Association have put in many hours of hard work on this event should be reason enough to honor that effort with our attendance, but I have even more reason to encourage not only RHS alumni but others to attend.
The highlight of this luncheon will be the presentation of awards to highly accomplished graduates and educators.

Regents roll into action

“Our purpose being here is to have a retreat and to being a new master plan for higher education,” she said. “It’s been a great retreat.”
Joe Savoie, Louisiana’s commissioner of higher education, said he was enjoying Tech’s hospitality.
“Louisiana Tech has done a wonderful job in hosting the Regents,” he said. “We should have a very productive meeting today.”
Roland Toups, committee chair for the Board, echoed Savoie’s sentiments.
