Tech football: a big ‘facelift’

It’s out with the old and in with the new at the Wyly Center.
There’s now a total of 120 individual locker cubicles, all spacious to take care of the various equipment used by players and all well ventilated to erase any of the odor commonly associated with locker room. Each of the cubicles are made of high-grade wood, with more updates to come over the next several weeks.
New tile, accented with the red and blue Tech colors, adorns all of the shower and restroom areas.

Ballet talent leaps into area

• Jennifer Beasley — Danced professionally with Louisville Ballet for two years and with Ballet Mississippi for five years, including the last season of her professional career under the legendary Fernando Bujones. Served as Ballet Mistress for Ballet Mississippi School for which she is currently owner.
• Stacey Calvert — Trained at the School of American Ballet, the official school of the New York City Ballet. Joined New York City Ballet’s Corps de Ballet. Soloist with New York City Ballet.

Dubach honored for conservation

“We are very proud of the fact that we are doing a much better job conserving water,” Dubach Mayor Margaret Rogers said. “This actually saves the town money because it costs a lot of money to pump this water.”
Rogers said the LRWA comes around periodically and checks how much water the town has pumped and how much it can account for — whether it was sold to homeowners and businesses or hauled in a truck to well.
About four years ago, 67 percent of the water pumped could not be accounted for, due mostly to broken water lines and meters that did not work.
