Bradshaw recalls ‘fun-loving’ friend

“My mom called and said Tommy had passed away earlier in the day,” the former Louisiana Tech University and Super Bowl hero of the Pittsburgh Steelers told The Daily Leader during an interview earlier this week.
“That was a hard one to get through, to realize that the best friend that I had while I was in high school and college had just died. I think when something like that happens, it hits you pretty hard and lets you know that life is very precious for all of us.”

Habitually late parents beware

The young are not always at fault for not making it to school on time.
And even if they are, parents need to have the wherewithal to keep tabs on whether their young are making it to school on time. If they aren’t, it’s a parent’s job to address that.
Some schools, such as Glen View Elementary, are taking the fight against lateness down to the level of individual schools.
Being late five times there will land you in Saturday detention.

Please, fall, give us some relief

Beads of water condense on the outside of them from the sticky heat.
Time just stands still in the end of the summer, especially here in Lincoln Parish. The buildup just continues and continues. Sleep is a wink away but comes fitfully at night, when you can’t seem to get comfortable with a mixture of air conditioning and fans. Either too hot or too cold, the middle ground is hard to pin down.

NASA honors Ruston native

The Silver Snoopy award is the astronauts’ personal achievement award presented for significant contributions to America’s space program.
F.J. Armond said he was proud of his son’s accomplishments.
“We really can’t put into words just how proud we are of Chad,” F.J. Armond said. “We appreciate the Ruston public school system and Louisiana Tech for preparing Chad for such an exciting career.”
Armond also spoke about the Ruston community.
