GSU's growth brings good attention

That by itself is noteworthy because the university, which had seen some tough times when current President Horace A. Judson took office, leads the University of Louisiana System in enrollment growth with a gain of almost 2 percent.
That’s enough to put a smile on Judson’s face, but it was not unexpected. And with an overall loss in the eight constituent institutions of the ULS, President Sally Clausen and the rest of the state can be proud that GSU was able to move in the black on the student balance sheet.

’Dogs battle No. 8 California

With the Golden Bears, it’s mainly about running with the football.
“Ether way, though, you’ve got to be able to play sound, good football,” summed up Derek Dooley, head coach of the Bulldogs. “For us, it means an opportunity to play another great opponent, regardless of what they like to do.”
Pass or run, it certainly will come down to that very mission for Tech (1-1), which will tangle with the No. 8 ranked Bears (2-0) a week after having dropped a 45-44 overtime decision to top 25 rated Hawaii at Joe Aillet Stadium.

Ruston — my college girlfriend

Then the fall came and we, both novices, learned each other. I taught her that this “big city” girl loves to drive fast and furious. In return, she taught me that U.S. 167 to Wal-Mart is a one-way, so don’t dare take a left off N. Service Road East going southbound back toward campus.
At least not during the day in the middle of rush hour traffic; and then again, not even after midnight when no other cars are on the road. The Ruston Police Department, actually, taught me that last one.

Teens cited for drinking

Eleven people were cited for underage drinking this past weekend by the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Department. Three teens were cited at Cactus Jack’s, one at Sundown West, one at Ponchatoula’s, four at Rabb’s and one at Shenanigan’s. One was also cited for having an open container in a vehicle.
