Barksdale investment opens doors

Louisiana Tech and Grambling State University represent unparalleled pools of resources for this budding stronghold for the nation’s information infrastructure.
Tech’s Les Guice, vice president for research and development, and a cast of other university officials have spent considerable time and energy backing the projects ongoing in Bossier City.
Louisiana Tech has become quite experienced in collaboration with the growth of its higher-end science programs — like biomedical engineering and nanoengineering.

Techsters: A turnaround win?

Tech (8-9, 2-2) overcame double digit (10 points) deficits on three different occasions in the first half to bounce back for a 57-50 victory.
Not only did it even up the Techsters’ mark against conference foes, but also came before the team embarks on a two-game road trip later this week; Tech will play at Nevada on Thursday night and then at Utah State on Saturday night before returning to the TAC in early February.

Learning outside campus

Working through Habitat, the students picked a person who will benefit, someone truly in need. This year’s project is helping to put a roof over the head of a single mother of three whose house is in deplorable condition and whose income working two jobs is not enough to address the problems, and there are many.
The architecture students wanted to help her because they know the hardships she faces are ones that she faces bravely, but the mountain is just too steep for her alone.

Cyber Command to boost Tech

“Louisiana Tech as well as others in the community and state will benefit enormously by this investment,” Guice said.
The Cyber Innovation Center is a venue that will support collaborations between university research, industry, the Air Force and other government agencies that should lead to innovative solutions to threats faced by the nation in both the military and civilian environments.
