Tech, NIU fooled ‘guessperts’

In the Mid-American Athletic Conference, the Huskies were predicted for an overall mark of 5-7 and a bottom-dwelling windup in the Western Division.
Polls, smolls.
Obviously, they mean about as much as another dieting plan by Oprah.
Tech produced a 7-5 record and shared second place in the WAC with Nevada and Hawaii.
Northern Illinois went 6-6 on the season and was No. 4 in the MAC’s West.

Local leads in Afghanistan

Aman Dullah is originally from the Northern Alliance; he is a strong leader and wears a white turban in battle.

Tech gears for I-Bowl

So those most recent bowl results could very well get mentioned by Tech boss Dooley and NIU commander Kill when they are preparing their teams for a Dec. 28 meeting in the Independence Bowl.
Winning on that date at Shreveport’s Independence Stadium will be foremost on the minds of the coaching staff and players, even though such postseason extravaganzas carry a “fun time” image.
