Malone: A rim-shattering slam

That “scene” recalled by Russo dealt with a play against Fresno State in which Malone made a leaping catch of a pass and, rather than pull up for a shot, went into a head-turning “slam dunk” mode.
“Karl got the ball way over his head and in one motion, absolutely just one-handed it right through the basket,” Russo said. “I mean he slammed it and it almost tore the goal down.
“He had a lot of great moments and plays in his career at Tech, but that’s one I always remember because of the sheer force that he used and one that became synonymous with the great career that he had.”

Legislature's raise backstep for Louisiana

Louisiana, lagging behind in many categories like education and health care when compared to other states in the nation, will have the highest legislative pay in the southern region and the 14th highest nationwide.
We can’t help but think about residents of the 11th and 12th Districts of the House of Representatives. Their state representatives may well receive more money in this raise than the poorest of those residents make in year.
We find ourselves thinking about Senate District 35, as well, an area with great needs that could benefit from state aid.

Lewis' legacy will live on

According to friends and former colleagues, Lewis spent his life going above and beyond to help young people reach their potential. Whether it was in his job as intern coordinator at GSU or through working with a nonprofit group dedicated to helping youth, it appeared Lewis was motivated to guide others to clean out the obstacles in their lives that were pulling them down.

Pop’s Blueberry Patch brings pickers out in force

“Some people just enjoy coming and picking,” he said. “When you go out there and pick (the berries), you’re going to pick the ones you want. It’s just like picking a Christmas tree.”
Also, Alexander said he believes customers return year after year to extract their own fruit for the fair price and health benefits.
