Kittens confident after victory

It was worth it.
“If the win means that much to these players, the school, the fans and the community, then I don’t mind if it was a little cold,” grinned the former assistant coach at Monroe Richwood High. “I’ve been a part of big wins before, but this isn’t about me. This is about the school and getting the program back to where it needs to be. I’m happy because everyone else is happy.”
Sherrod and the Kittens are hoping the happiness continues at Robinson Stadium Thursday night.

Jury works for resolutions

The Events Center, oddly, hit a speed bump caused by a community member’s confused effort to try to get things moving. It’s been a huge issue since the beginning of this year — first facing tweaking by the Police Jury in a few areas to, in their minds, increase the utility of the overall complex, and then facing a kind of quagmire in the relationship between the Library Board of Control and the Jury that originated from those tweaks and suspicions of the Ruston-Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau’s meddling hand.

Put trash in its place, keep cities clean

In the hopes of reducing the accumulation of this trash, Grambling has adopted Keep America Beautiful’s national cigarette litter prevention program.
Grambling Beautification Committee Chairman Bettye Giles is leading the way on this initiative, and she recently brought 10 cigarette ash/butt receptacles to be placed throughout the town and at local parks.
It’s a great idea, but it’s one that will only work if residents use the receptacles.

Rogers to rock Rabb’s

“We play 250 shows a year and have done so for the past six years,” he said. “We focus on touring, and we’re always trying to evolve the show to make it better.”
Placing songwriting as his first priority, before the band formed Rogers performed solo at open mic nights at the Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos. Rogers said his songs are intended to be relatable to the average person and to help people through their struggles.
