Tech has hoops’ fest at home

It’s the busiest three-day stretch of the home season for the Tech squads, both of whom will be trying to move past the .500 winning percentage plateau either in overall or Western Athletic Conference play.

Inclusive prayer bars Christ

Then something wonderfully and distinctively American happened: “Mr. Samuel Adams arose and said that he was no bigot and could hear a prayer from any gentleman of piety and virtue who was at the same time a friend to his country.”
So the next morning America’s founding fathers bowed their heads as an Episcopal clergyman prayed fervently “for America, for the Congress, for the Province of Massachusetts Bay and especially the town of Boston” (then under attack).

Community concern is apparent

From the incoming administration of President-elect Barack Obama to the national economy, there are issues bigger than the city’s strife on the table. Still, the organizers of the vigil are looking for some sense of direction and a feeling of peace about the back-and-forth that has been going on in the city for some time.

‘Better than Broadway

“The first year, they did drama sketches and music, entertaining the crowd while they ate,” Nelson said. “The second year, we just kind of raised the bar a little bit and did a choreographed show with a focus on dancing and some singing.”
The two-performance fundraiser last year earned the group $6,000-$7,000, affording the college students money for their Chicago mission trip.
