Williams, Shoemaker to unite in marriage

Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Shoemaker, of Winnsboro, are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching wedding of their daughter, Megan Marie Shoemaker, of Winnsboro, to Kyle Brently Williams, of Ruston.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Ella Shoemaker, of Winnsboro, the late John A. Shoemaker, Eve Dieckmann, of St. Charles, Mo., and the late Palmer J. Dieckmann.

Fowler, Wingard to wed in Dubach

Dalton E. Fowler, of Eros, and Samantha D. Wingard, of Ruston, are pleased to announce their engagement and approaching wedding.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Wallace Wingard, of Ruston, and Wanda Sides, of Eclectic, Ala. She is the granddaughter of Don and Margarett Maddox and the late Truman and Rosie Brooks.
Samantha is a 2003 alumna of Ruston High School and attends Louisiana Tech University. She is employed at Hospice of Caring Hearts.

High-speed chase ends in I-20 wreck

A Texas man was taken into custody Thursday after leading law enforcement officials on a high-speed chase that stretched across Bienville and Lincoln parishes before ending in a wreck in the median of Interstate 20 near Choudrant.

A Louisiana Tech assistant professor of art’s work has been selected Best in Show in a national exhibition.
Frank Hamrick, who is also the program coordinator of photography, displayed “Scars” at the Chowan National Juried Art Exhibition, which will run through Feb. 17.
Hamrick is well-known in the art world, having one of his photographs selected for the cover of The Sun in May 2010, serving as technical editor of the book “Plastic Cameras: Toying with Creativity,” and having his work displayed in several shows across the United States.

Littera Club

The February meeting of Littera Club was held at the Lincoln Parish Library.  The hostesses, Eolian Walker, Ruth Walpole and Sarah Williams, used a valentine theme for the refreshments and the refreshment table.  Each member was presented a valentine as she enjoyed a time of fellowship with fellow club members.
During the business meeting conducted by president, Erma Hudson, information about illnesses and special needs of the club members were shared.
