Some things in sports, and life, are just plain obvious.
Nolan Ryan had a wicked fastball.
Al Pacino is a great actor.
Jim Brown was a boot-tough running back.
Jerry Lee Lewis can play a mean piano.
And Mike Green and Matt Dunigan should be in the Louisiana Tech University Athletic Hall of Fame.

GSU legends in abundance at ceremonies

A Sunday morning’s worth of sports items while wondering how any Hall of Fame voter could keep Derek Jeter off of his ballot once the Yankee shortstop becomes eligible for Cooperstown:
• The other day, during a media gathering for the GSU Legends Hall of Fame 2011 induction class, I looked around the conference room at the Eddie G. Robinson Museum and was amazed at the number of legendary names in sports who were present. How about this lineup of Who’s Who?: Willis Reed, Willie Brown, Doug Williams, James “Shack” Harris and Aaron James.

Hadnot takes bronze

Former Ruston High School star Trey Hadnot of Louisiana Tech University continued his fabulous first year of collegiate competition by winning the bronze medal in the 200-meterdash for the United States at the Pan Am Junior Championships in Miami, Fla., on Saturday.
Hadnot got his third place finish with a time of 20.82, just shy of his all-time personal best of 20.80 that he clocked at the USA Track and Field Junior Championships last month to qualify for the nationals.

Morgan wins Caribbean title

Ex-Tech star is discus champion again at meet

Jason Morgan just keeps getting better this summer on the international track and field circuit.
The former star at Louisiana Tech University added on to his impressive resume of achievements recently by winning the discus event at the Central America and Caribbean Championships.
Morgan took the title with a throw of 199-8.
