Dykes pleased with WAC champs’ signing class

Stability and winning.
Those two factors, probably more than anything else played the ultimate role in Louisiana Tech University landing a banner crop of football signees on Wednesday.
“Recruiting is so much about relationships and the fact that our staff hasn’t had a change in two years lets a prospect know that there’s stability and consistency with the program here,” said Bulldogs’ Head Coach Sonny Dykes at a middday National Signing Day luncheon held at the Ruston Civic Center. “Winning the conference (Western Athletic) and going to a bowl game last year certainly helps, too.”

Louisiana Tech sprinter Trey Hadnot (men’s track) and jumper Chelsea Hayes (women’s field) have been named the WAC Athletes of the Week.
Hadnot, a sophomore from Ruston, La. (Ruston HS), set a new school record in the 200-meter dash last weekend at the Arkansas State Invitational. His time of 21.04 topped Al Fullwood’s time of 21.25 set in 2010. Hadnot leads the WAC by over half a second and his time currently ranks sixth in the nation. The 200-meters is Hadnot’s specialty, as he competed for Team USA at last year’s Pan American Junior Championships, claiming the bronze medal for the Americans.

LPSO deputies see positive feedback

When Susan Crowson was out in her yard Tuesday afternoon, she had no idea why a deputy from the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office was pulling into her driveway.
That has been the thought of many parish residents over the past week and a half as deputies from Sheriff Mike Stone and the LPSO’s new Concentrated Area Patrol group have been cruising around handing out surveys and asking area residents their opinion on the sheriff’s office and the job they are doing.
