Early detection could save a life

As October has whirled by, so has the month that has been designated for Breast Cancer Awareness. Throughout this month, many organizations, including the Louisiana Tech Athletics Department, the Northern Louisiana Medical Center and many more, have proactively championed for those who are currently or who have battled with the dreaded condition.

Anne Aulds Holstead

Funeral services for Anne Aulds Holstead, age 78, of Choudrant, LA will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Grace United Methodist Church. Rev. Hulen Warren will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Douglas Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.

John Anderson Doles

John Anderson Doles, age 89, of Arcadia formerly of Monroe, services will be held Sunday, October 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville. Officiating the service will be Rev. John Mabray. Interment will follow at Beulah Cemetery in Farmerville under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.
Mr. Doles was born December 23, 1922 and passed away October 25, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma Wade Doles.
Mr. Doles was a member and Elder of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Monroe.

Affecting countless people, from the loss of productivity at the workplace, to health care expenses, to the long lasting emotional scars left on its victims, the consequences of domestic violence infiltrate entire communities. Although it’s puzzling to some why a person would stay in an abusive situation, advocates for the abused have asserted that victims may feel as if they lack the needed resources to start a life without the abuser. However, they add there are many options available to those who seek help, and understanding those options may save a life and stop the perpetual cycle of domestic abuse.
