Ratliff, Drew announce plans to wed in winter

Mr. and Mrs. William R. Ratliff, of Homer, are pleased to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Andrea Lynnette Ratliff, to David Thomas Drew.

Andrea is a graduate of Claiborne Academy, in Haynesville, and also received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. She is currently employed with Louisiana Tech University in the Trenchless Technology Center as a technical writer and will begin pursuing her Master of Arts in English with the university this fall.

Aclin, Gemelli to unite in matrimony this August

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Aclin, of Shreveport, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Elizabeth Aclin, to James Bernard Gemelli.

Emily is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Early Intervention. She is a National Board Certified Teacher employed by DeSoto Parish School Board and teaching at North DeSoto Elementary. She is an alumna of Sigma Kappa.

Leachman, Brown to wed in July ceremony

Robert and Ginny Leachman, of Choudrant, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Margaret Leachman, to Stephen Brown, of Minden.

Meg is the granddaughter of Wanda and Laster Leachman, Harry Saunders and the late Mary Saunders.She is a 2002 graduate of Cedar Creek and a 2007 graduate of Louisiana Tech University. She is currently employed with Log Cabin Grill and Market.

Recuperating from travels

I’m still recuperating from my trip up East. What a tremendous blessing it is to be able to visit with family you dearly love, but seldom see due to distance separating you. Time apart can seem like an eternity.
I left there knowing I may never see them again in this world, but also knowing we will meet someday in a better place. How cool is that?

Ruston’s four elementary principals

Patrice Hilton, Doris Lewis, Shavonne Garner-Price, and Lisa Mangum have spent almost as much time together this summer as they have with their families. In fact, the four women, principals of Ruston’s four elementary schools, have become their own sort of education family.
It’s up to the principals, their faculties and staffs to get things ready for the August opening of the Lincoln Parish Schools system’s new 1-4-ALL vision of excellence for Ruston’s elementary schools.

Birthday Fellowship Club

Birthday Fellowship Club has succeded in collecting more than 1,400 children’s books for children in the Sudan, Africa. The children live in poor conditions with low lifespans. For more information call 247-6962. The club is set to honor Dr. Weathers, honorary member, in July at Ryan’s in Bossier City.
