PINEVILLE — With hurricane Isaac set to make landfall, Louisiana Tech snuck in a match versus Louisiana College here Tuesday and came away with an 11-0 win.
The game was moved up two separate times in an effort to make-up the cancellation of the season opener against Murray State.

Betty “Punkey” Norman

Funeral services for Betty “Punkey” Norman, 40 of Ruston will be 2PM Saturday, September 1, 2012 in the Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston. Burial will follow in Pines Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Punkey died Monday August 27, 2012 in Ruston following a sudden illness.

La. Tech-Texas A&M game postponed until Oct. 13

Louisiana Tech University officials announced today that its season opener against Texas A&M has been postponed until Oct. 13 due to the impending effects of Hurricane Isaac, which is scheduled to make landfall along the Louisiana coast in the next 24 hours.
Tech Athletics Director Bruce Van De Velde said that after consulting with Tech President Dan Reneau, head football coach Sonny Dykes, Texas A&M officials and numerous regional and national weather agencies, the decision was made to postpone the game.

Lincoln receives evacuees

With Tropical Storm Isaac expected to hit land at some point in the next few days, Lincoln Parish officials opened one of the parish’s emergency shelters — Trinity Methodist Church — on Monday for evacuees from the storm’s path in preparation for the worst case scenario.
As of 7 p.m. Monday, only two evacuees had checked in, but at 7 a.m. today, there were 15 registered at Trinity with more arrivals expected today. Zion Traveler’s Baptist Church will be the second shelter to open, likely later today, but that shelter has been on standby, with cots, bedding and supplies being delivered.

Tech, A&M game could be delayed

Louisiana Tech Athletics Director Bruce Van De Velde said Monday that the university is closely monitoring the situation with the impending landfall of Hurricane Isaac and hopes to make a definitive decision on its home game against Texas A&M by this afternoon.
