Tech teams compete in C-USA Cross Country championships

Paul Sakit finished 15th overall to help lead the Louisiana Tech men’s cross country team to an eighth place finish at the Conference USA Championships on Saturday morning in Denton, Texas.
Sakit secured the 15th overall spot by finishing the 8K course in 25:54.87. Following right behind Sakit were Anthony Plourde, who finished 31st overall, and Taylor Ashton, who finished 42nd overall, with times of 26:36.45 and 26:53.06, respectively. Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs were Josh Pearce and Tom Stringer who finished 61st and 63rd with times of 27:23.49 and 27:29.54, respectively.

Glenda Kay Lowery

Funeral services for Glenda Kay Lowery, age 76, of Ruston, LA will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 4, 2013 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Oden officiating the service. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M., one hour prior to the service, Monday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Henry Cemetery in Hico, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Ms. Lowery was born on October 4, 1937 in Bernice, LA and died on November 1, 2013 in Ruston, LA.

Mrs. Margaret Estes

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Estes, 91, of Farmerville will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, November 4, 2013 at Farmerville United Methodist Church with Rev. Johnny Hankins officiating.  Interment will be in the Farmerville City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home. Margaret was born on June 25, 1922 in Hillsboro, TN. She was the daughter of Rev. Cecil and Mrs. Sudie Crosslin. She passed away Friday, November 1st at home surrounded by her loving family. Margaret lived in twenty-seven different locations and never met a stranger.

Dorothy Brown

Dorothy Brown, 60, of Choudrant, passed in peace from this life on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Pointe Coupee Hospital Hospice floor in New Rhodes. She was born November 5, 1952 in McAllen, Texas to the union of her parents, Felipe Ramous Davila and Carmen Cisneros Davila. She was much loved by her family and friends and will be forever remembered as an amazing grandmother, mother, and friend. Despite a long battle with cancer, she continued to be active in her children and grandchildren's lives.

Rountree, Renneisen to marry in New Orleans

Mr. and Mrs. James A. Rountree of Monroe are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Margaret Mary Ellen to Michael Gelé Renneisen, son of Dr. and Mrs. Warren Renneisen of Media, Pa., and grandson of Mrs. Roberta Fedder of Saint Marys, Pa.

Margaret graduated from Cedar Creek High School, earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Hendricks College and went on to earn a master’s degree in chemistry from Tulane University. She is currently a third year medical student at LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport.

Langston, Robbins exchange vows

Haley Britt Langston and Norman Ballou Robbins, III were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church. The wedding ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Andrew Riley Hurst.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Wayne Langston, of Ruston. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Nell Hathorn Williamson, the late Charles S. Williamson and the late Claude Hathorn of Oakvale, Miss. She is also the granddaughter of Mrs. Jean Nye Langston of Columbia, Miss. and the late Thomas E. Langston.
