Good Neighbor winner announced

Heritage Realty Group wanted to award the efforts of those in the Ruston community with its Good Neighbor Program.
Residents were asked to nominate any individuals they felt had worked to improve the quality their neighbors in Ruston.
Heritage Realty Group said they believe that it is easier to sell a house if one is sold on the community. Real estate agents are on the front lines of selling our community.

CHS Homecoming court named

Choudrant High School will hold its annual Homecoming events Monday through Friday. The Homecoming Assembly will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the CHS Auditorium. All family, friends and alumni are invited to attend. The court will be presented again 5:30 p.m. Friday with the boys and girls basketball games following. Congratulations to the CHS 2013-14 Homecoming Court.

Darland, Fisher wed on Valentine’s Day

Kathryn Ann Darland, formerly of Ruston, and Matthew Brandon Fisher, of Livonia, Mich., were united in matrimony in a Valentine’s Day mass wedding ceremony at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center in Detroit, Mich.

The double ring ceremony was officiated by Cathy Garrett, Wayne County Clerk. The bride was presented for marriage by her son, Bankston.

The bride is the daughter of David and Nancy Darland, of Ruston. She is the granddaughter of the late George “Kenny” Kindred and Mary Louise Pugh Wilson, of Effie, and the late William “Bill” and Sidney Bradberry Darland, of Ruston.

Magic begins for holiday season

What a Thanksgiving. One of my best.
I left the hospital and with the doctor’s permission, went the next day for a fabulous vacation with family to Gaylord Texan Lodge. I will try but probably can’t do it justice, to tell you about this fairyland where we spent four days.
Arriving at dusk, we went down a long bordered lane of trees of gold, silver, red, blue and green, we entered under this arch into four lane traffic jam, which took forever to get us to our destination. It was reported that 25,000 vehicles passed through within the 24 hours on Thanksgiving Day.
