Bikers passionate about helping kids

I first met the Bikers Against Child Abuse on a cold, wet Saturday on Dec. 14 during the Toy Run hosted by the American Bikers Active Toward Education motorcycle group. There were countless motorcycle enthusiasts and “die hard” bikers all out for one reason — to help children have a merry Christmas. And I believe they’ve done just that.
The president of ABATE, Rob Breedlove, told me to contact the members of BACA for more information in regards to other organizations who help children all year long.

Tech’s Enemkpali named All-State

Louisiana Tech defensive end IK Enemkpali was named to the all-Louisiana first team football list by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Wednesday (LSWA).
With Enemkpali’s selection to the first team, Tech is one of seven schools represented on the first team list. The LSWA selected a first and second all-Louisiana team based on players’ accomplishments throughout the 2013 season.

Mr. Elwyn Cecil Sparks

Funeral services for Mr. Elwyn Cecil Sparks, age 62 of Dubach, will be held 2:00PM Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Dubach United Pentecostal Church in Dubach. Officiating the service will be Rev. Kevin Cox and Dr. Douglas Stewart.  Burial will follow in Unionville Cemetery near Dubach under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Sparks was born July 8, 1951 in Shreveport to R.C. Sparks and Rosa Wade Sparks. He died December 23, 2013 in Ruston. Mr.

Regular meeeting

NOVEMBER 14TH, 2013 Lincoln Parish Waterworks District # 3 of Ruston, Louisiana met in a regular meeting on this date. The commissioner's present was, Mr. Jack Allen president, Mr. Randy Snow, Mr. Ralph McVay, Mr. G.W. Kimble and Mr. Willard Anderson. Also present was Mr. Chris Harris, manager. Mr. Mcvay opened the meeting with prayer. Mr. Allen presented the agenda for adoption. There was one change to be made. Mr. Snow made a motion to adopt the agenda as printed with changes, Mr. Kimble seconded the motion and it was carried.

Linney G. Watson

Another one of America's greatest generation has passed beyond this veil to the next. He is in his uniform once again serving with all those friends, family and fellow soldiers' that went before him. Obviously, he is helping to make the way for us in the future. He was a fine Soldier, family man, and an honorable citizen who will be missed more than he ever knew. Linney G. Watson was born in Deep Gap, NC on September 26th 1918 and passed from this life in Fort Smith, AR on December 21, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wives: Ruth Hood and Ruby Watson; and son: Danny L. Watson.

Camper named Tech tennis coach

Former Wright State men’s and women’s associate head tennis coach Chad Camper has been hired to be the new head coach of the Lady Techster tennis program, announced today by Louisiana Tech Athletics Director Tommy McClelland.
“We are very excited to have someone of Chad’s expertise and background lead our women’s tennis program,” said McClelland. “I believe that Chad has the skills, knowledge and drive to take our program to the next level. “

I.A. Lewis Girls Take State In Cross Country

Lewis Girls Cross Country team, state runner-up last year, took home top honors this year at the at the Louisiana Elementary/Junior High Cross Country championships in the fifth/sixth grade division.
