Is non-stick cookware dangerous?

in

Dear EarthTalk: I’ve read conflicting reports about the dangers of non-stick cookware. I have a set of older non-stick pans and am not sure if I need to replace them. Are they harmful to use, particularly if they have a few scratches?

in
Bleich, Joe C.jpg

During this warm summer, after celebrating the Peach Festival and Fourth of July, your writer wishes to acknowledge and give special thanks to the firefighters of Lincoln Parish.
There have been in recent days many events to which we are now reacting as a country. There is the recent and continuing coup d'etat occurring in Egypt. in
Moore, Byron.jpg

Question: How does a regular person make it these days? With everything costing so much, it is really so hard to save any money. Do only rich people get to retire one day?

in
Conville, Bobby.jpg

While changes in the economy occur regularly, what we have experienced recently is anything but a “normal” change.
The challenges of the current economy haven’t been seen or experienced in our country in decades.
Like most investors, you may wish you could figure out some way to know when economic conditions were about to change, or what adjustments you should make in your portfolio based on current conditions.

Don’t get trampled by the ‘financial herd’

in
Fallin, Randy.jpg

Every year in early July, thousands of people “run with the bulls” in Pamplona, Spain. While the event is exciting, it is also hazardous, and many runners have gotten badly injured over the years. As an investor, you may find that running with the herd is dangerous to you, too — because if you’re constantly following what everyone else is doing, your own financial goals could end up getting “trampled.”

Observations along the sports beat:
• What’s in the water around the Louisiana Tech University and Grambling State athletics departments these days?
First, there was the exit of Bruce Van De Velde at Tech.
Then earlier this week, Percy “Chico” Caldwell said so long to Grambling.
Again, there’s never a dull moment in the world of sports, is it?

in
7-1.jpg

After finishing his acceptance speech, newly inducted Louisiana Sports Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal began walking off the podium at the Natchitoches Events Center last Saturday night.
He paused, then turned toward the audience, grinned and said: “Welcome to Shaquitoches.”
And how true it was.
O’Neal owned the city during the 2013 HOF induction weekend, so why not apply his own name to it?
Shaq for Mayor of Natchitoches?
Hey, anything is possible.
