RHS, Creek: 10 all-staters

Ruston High and Cedar Creek won a combined 15 games during the 2012 football season.
Now, they’ve got a composite double-digit total in another area.
The Bearcats (6-6) and Cougars (9-3) had an overall total of 10 representatives — five from each school — for their classifications on the annual Louisiana Sports Writers Association All-State squads.

Juluke, Spady due for Tech staff

New hires may be announced by end of week

Any day now, Louisiana Tech University is scheduled to announce more additions to the football staff being formed by new Head Coach Skip Holtz Jr., according to sources close to the; program.
The likely hires: former Grambling State University assistant coach James Spady and current Edna Karr High School Head Coach Jabbar Juluke.

Want to become a Master Gardener?

The Louisiana Master Gardener Program, sponsored by the LSU AgCenter, is taking applications for the yearly series of Master Gardener classes, which will begin Feb. 7.
The program consists of 14 classes, with professional instructors presenting up-to-date information on specific gardening/horticultural subject matters. The classes will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Thursday (Feb. 7-May 9) at the Ouachita Parish AgCenter’s Extension Service auditorium located at 704 Cypress St., West Monroe.

Spot is a big boy with a happy personality. At almost the size of a Great Dane he thinks he is a lap dog. He gets along with all other dogs and is around 1-year-old. Enjoy spirit of giving all year long

For the past several weeks, the pages of this newspaper have been filled with stories of residents reaching out to help others in need.
People generally take the idea of the season of giving to heart during the months of November and December, rushing to provide everything from food to toys for their neighbors who might not have them otherwise.
