Mrs. Mary Margaret Barr

Mrs. Mary Margaret Barr, 87, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 after a brief illness. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at 10:00 am at Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Ken Irby and Rev. Kathy Wafer of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Mrs. Barr was born Sept. 11, 1926 to Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Stamps. She was a proud Texan and claimed the entire state as her native home - never wanting to favor one city over the other of the many Texas locales in which she resided.

Mr. Sam Willis O'Bannon

Funeral services for Mr. Sam Willis O'Bannon, 94, of Bernice was held at 2:00pm Monday, September 23, at First Baptist Church in Bernice with Rev. Charles Malone officiating. Burial was in Bernice City Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville. Mr. O'Bannon, died Friday September 20, 2013. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of both WWII and Korea. Mr. O'Bannon worked as a civilian at Fort Rucker, Al. in the maintenance of helicopters for Northrop Aviation Corp.

Billy Dean Bryan was born November 28, 1939 into the union of Myrtle Mavis Greer of Arcadia and Elvis Bryan of Downsville and died on September 16, 2013 peacefully at home. Bill graduated from Downsville High School and then Louisiana State University. He received a Masters of Business Administration degree from Louisiana Tech University's first MBA class and became a CPA. Bill married Sue Hogg Bryan in 1962 and had three children, Scott, Jeff and Keli. Bill began working in his father's sausage plant, Bryan Sausage, as a teenager and went on to manage the business for several decades.

Funeral services for Lola Kathleen Edwards Bennett, age 91, of Choudrant, LA will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday September 14, 2013 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Officiating the services will be Rev. Bill Sanderson. Interment will follow at Sibley Cemetery near Choudrant under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mrs. Bennett was born April 28, 1922 and passed away September 11, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Richard Bennett, Jr. and son, Ronnie Bennett. Mr. Farrar was born in Lillie on December 1, 1923. He graduated from Bernice High School in 1941 and attended Louisiana Tech majoring in Chemical Engineering.

Navy during World War II in the Pacific aboard the U.
