Pictures unveil bits of reality

This statement has reached my ears before. It’s usually one I hear from close friends or relatives when I appear angry, washed-out or heavier than I perceive myself to be in a photograph.

However, after 1 1/2 years of snapping pictures for The Ruston Daily Leader, I’m beginning to believe this starting statement is only a half truth. Unless a picture is splashed across the front of a tabloid, we can assume most photos we see are true to life in that the photo subject was actually in the place they are pictured.
