Roads not garbage bins
To people who reside here or drive in to view the parish’s towns and cities, displays of trash are an unwelcome decoration. Visitors are given the impression that residents are lazy, careless or don’t clean up after themselves. Medicine bottles, cigarette butts, soda cans, food packages and even clothing are among the items some people seem to believe belong on the ground.
In the past, students at Grambling State University have volunteered their Saturdays to collect the miles of waste scattered over the city’s streets.
