Lions, tigers and bears, oh my! For the most part, these animals strike fear in most individuals, even while caged. However, they are nothing compared to the furry, timid deer that wreak havoc — literally — on unsuspecting motorists each year.
On average, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports approximately 1 million car accidents in the United States involve collisions with deer each year. About 200 Americans are killed as a result of the accidents each year, and costs range upward of $1 billion in vehicle damages.
With Valentine’s Day looming, February is the month when people begin to think of matters of the heart. But physicians like area cardiologist Michael Langiulli say people, especially women, should focus on keeping their hearts healthy. Langiulli will speak at the Healthy Woman Wellness Challenge 2011 on the topic “Keeping Your Heart in Mind.”
