Parish teams have tough quarterfinal softball challenges

Top Left: Ruby Richie and Casey Bowman of Cedar Creek High had Top 10 finishes at the recent regional tournament to qualify for the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 1A golf tournament at Woodworth on Wednesday and Thursday. Richie finished No. 4 and Bowman No. 8 at the regionals held at the Alexandria Country Club course. Top Right: Katie Frazier drove in two runs to help Choudrant High School defeat Quitman 6-3 in a Class B Louisiana High School Athletic Association regional round game this past weekend. The Lady Aggies face No. 1-seeded Oak Hill in the state quarterfinals on Friday. Bottom: Lilla Jimmerson put down a key bunt for an infield hit to help ignite a fifth-inning rally for Cedar Creek High and helped provide for a 4-2 victory over Oak Grove in the regional round of the Class 1A Louisiana High School Athletic Association playoffs this past weekend. Jimmerson will be helping send the Lady Cougars into a quarterfinal round test against No. 1-seeded False River at the state tournament in Sulphur on Friday. Jimmerson is one of several players on the Creek squad carrying a .300-plus batting average into the state tournament that will be held at Frasch Park.

Two Lincoln Parish high school softball teams remain in the hunt for a Louisiana High School Athletic Association state championship.
