Diamond Dogs fall to FIU: For the first time this season, Louisiana Tech did not touch home plate as the Panthers of FIU shut out the Bulldogs in the second game of the series, 3-0, Saturday afternoon at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.
The Bulldogs’ losing streak has now reached nine straight games.
GSU splits with Prairie View: Grambling State’s baseball team split a Southwestern Athletic Conference doubleheader at Prairie View A&M Saturday, winning the opener 11-6 and falling in Game Two 15-3.
Turnovers at the wrong time can be costly in a tight game as the Cedar Creek Cougars found out Friday in a 30-17 season-opening home loss to Loyola Prep at Cougars Stadium.
The game was as close as it could be statistically, but the Class 4A Flyers converted a pair of Creek turnovers into 10 early points that proved to be a big factor in Loyola’s win.
