Ruston High School’s baseball team had plenty reason to smile Monday after defeating Breaux Bridge 8-6 in the quarterfinal round of the Class 4A Louisiana High School Athletic Association playoffs. The victory landed the Bearcats a berth in the state tournament that begins on Friday at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park. Members of the squad include (bottom row, from left) Sam Phillips, Pierce Spangler, Tanner Frasier (middle row, from left), Shelton Wooley, Nick Letendre, Matthew Manning, Meny Hernandez, Chase Frasier, Jonathan Jones (top row, from left) B.J. Findley, Michael Welch, Parker Elliot, Clayton Cline, David Hernandez, Cannon Brasuell, Eric Goree, Ivan Wilson, Ben Edmiston and (back) Lain Kranz.

Lincoln Parish has not one, but two opportunities to bring home a state championship in high school baseball this weekend.
