Southern AgCredit, of Arcadia, held an Appreciation Fish Fry on Feb. 22 for their customers. More than 60 customers were treated to an evening of fish, fellowship and “funds.”
The Southern AgCredit Board of Directors recently approved a patronage dividend for borrowers based on the financing cooperative’s solid 2011 earnings. The Arcadia customer’s checks were delivered to them at the Fish Fry where they were personally thanked for their patronage this past year.
Ruston Kiwanis Club continued its support of the Third District Drug Court with a donation of $500 for the fourth straight year. The club uses the proceeds from its annual Pancake Day to support multiple causes in the area. The 60th Annual Kiwanis Pancake Day will be held on Nov. 11. The Dixie Center for the Arts will be filled with the sweet sound of children singing on Monday as A.E. Phillips third-sixth graders present the “Messiah.”
Students, along with a small orchestra from Louisiana Tech University, will take the stage twice at 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday to allow more community members to attend. The event will cost $2 for students and $5 for adults.
Randall Boyd, A.E. Phillips choir director, said the group has been working on the piece since August and this is the second time the school will present the piece.
