State Farm closure hits Ruston

State Farm Insurance Co., one of the largest employers in North Louisiana, announced Wednesday afternoon that it will close its Monroe office.

The closure of the office translates into a loss of 1,100 employees in the North Louisiana area. State Farm officials have said that of the 1,100 jobs, 400 employees will be offered to transfer to either Tulsa, Okla. or Columbia, Mo. But policy holders in Lincoln Parish will not be affected by the State Farm’s decision, according to Skip Russell, a Ruston agent for State Farm.
