Louisiana Tech University has achieved a Tier One ranking among “National Universities” for the fourth consecutive year, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2015 Best Colleges list.
Tech, along with LSU and Tulane University, were the only institutions in the state to achieve a Tier One “National Universities” ranking. Tech landed at No. 201 on the latest US News & World Report list.
Ruston Area Music Teacher’s Association was honored recently to have two local students win honors at the annual state competition.
The competition is one of the largest Louisiana piano competitions. More than 100 students competed, representing areas such as New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Lafayette, Shreveport, Monroe and Ruston.
Madeline Smith, daughter of the Rev. Edward and Mrs. Mildred Smith of Ruston, won Honorable Mention in the third and fourth grade division. Madeline will be a fourth-grade student at A. E. Phillips in the fall and takes piano in the piano program there.
