Studies indicate 15-20 percent of children will be on the receiving end of a bully’s behavior before they graduate high school, according to the U.S. Department of Education Web site (www.ed.gov/index.jhtml).

Because of the prevalence of bullying, Ruston Elementary School invited D.A.R.T. Community Advocate Amanda Maxwell to address the topic during their annual Family Day last week.

“(Bullying) makes kids afraid to go to school and hinders their performances,” Maxwell said.
