Ruston Police officers responded Tuesday as a large metal awning at an empty gas station at the corner of California Avenue and Monroe Street came down during a thunderstorm.

To the delight of many area residents, Lincoln Parish finally received a relief Tuesday courtesy of Mother Nature.

With moderate-severe drought conditions predicted to persist in Lincoln Parish by a National Weather Service U.S. Seasonal Drought report released on June 16, a series of thunderstorms that shook the area Tuesday morning brought more than three and a half inches of much-needed rain to many areas.
